Welcome to the Jefferson Education Center
The Jefferson Education Center (JEC) in Port Hadlock was established in 1999 to provide a central location that is easily accessible for adults to return to, or continue, their education in east Jefferson County. The JEC provides client services and facilities for partner colleges and universities to provide on-site or distance learning opportunities in a large variety of degree and continuing education programs.
Individuals may earn an associate degree while attending Peninsula College at the JEC, Fort Worden or at the home campus in Port Angeles. The Center also hosts adult basic education classes for those wanting to earn a GED certificate. Old Dominion University offers a variety of on-site bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees utilizing two-way audio-video ITV technology. The classes are live and originate from the main ODU campus in Norfolk, VA. Classes from other partners are held throughout the year. In addition, the JEC provides support for students participating in partner educational programs, as well as other accredited academic programs. This includes testing, computer lab usage, advising and other support services.
The JEC professional staff provides academic and career counseling services without charge to individuals on a walk-in, or appointment basis. Assistance is provided in applying for student financial aid using the FAFSA as well as searching for grants, scholarships and loans.
The center is conveniently located in the Shold Business Park on Rhody Drive (SR 19) in Port Hadlock. Ample free parking is available, and the Center is served by Jefferson Transit. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Classes are held six days a week and may run from 7:00 am until 8:30 pm.
