In October 2006, the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) awarded a three-year, $1.6 million grant to the North Olympic Peninsula Resource Conservation & Development Council (NOP RC&D) to develop a Solutions Network for the North Olympic Peninsula. Peninsula College's NASA Lab maintains the Dungeness River Hybrid Hydrological Forecasting Model, as well as providing internships for regional students in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial analysis.
