The PUB Gallery of Art at Peninsula College is seeking entries for the 2024 Peninsula College Student Art Show.

The show is a juried exhibition that will be in the PUB Gallery of Art from May 21 to June 12, 2024. Any Peninsula College student of the 2023/24 academic year may enter up to three works of art. Cash awards are sponsored by the Peninsula College Foundation and will be given for:

Magic of Cinema and Peninsula Adventure Sports are excited to showcase The Trail Running Film Festival 2024.

The festival highlights stories—through documentary film—from around the world by filmmakers sharing their work of adventure, inclusivity, nature, art, and diversity across the trail running and ultra- community.

Grab a friend and join the Washington Coastsavers Coastal Beach Cleanup by picking up litter and debris on a local or coastal beach. Take a photo of your effort and submit to ASC@pencol.edu

Come to the PUB between 11-1:00 and bring your favorite water bottle, or decorate one of ours (while they last). The ASC will provide materials for decorating. In recognition of Earth Week 2024, consider committing to using reusable water bottles instead of plastic bottles, whenever possible, in your future.

In honor of Earth Week, we're encouraging students to get outside, exercise and do something fun. Why not spikeball? It's a fun, easy-to-learn game. You just need a partner and you can join the fun in an informal tournament. Sign up here!

Attention readers and writers: the new Raymond Carver and Tess Gallagher Creative Writing Festival will be held April 25-27, 2024, in Port Angeles. Keynote readers include Billy Collins, T.C. Boyle, and Tess Gallagher. Selected Shorts from Symphony Space in New York and National Public Radio will bring actors Dion Graham (The Wire), Zach Grenier (Devs), and Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds) to deliver a performance of work by Carver, Gallagher, Collins, and Boyle.

Peninsula College is proud to announce John Vaillant as the 2024 Writer in Residence. Vaillant, and award-winning science and nature writer is best known for his book, The Golden Spruce, A True Story of Myth, Madness and Greed, which won the Governor General Literary Award for nonfiction, British Columbia’s National Award for Canadian nonfiction. Vaillant also wrote other bestselling books, including The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival, which won the RBC Taylor Prize for Nonfiction and the Governor General’s Literary Award for Nonfiction.

Arran Stark is the Director of Food Services at Jefferson Healthcare.
