James Garlick and Richard Yongjae O’Neill are two of the most exciting and talented musicians ever to emerge from this area (Port Angeles and Sequim natives, respectively). Both played as section musicians in the PASO while still in high school and were last heard in Port Angeles as soloists with the orchestra in Mozart’s scintillating Sinfonia Concertante in Eb under the baton of Jonathan Pasternack. Mr. Garlick currently is a member of the acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra and also performs with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Bach Ensemble.
He has also performed as concertmaster with the Amarillo Symphony, Juilliard Orchestra, Northwest Sinfonietta and many other orchestras. Mr. O’Neill’s equally brilliant career has seen him win two Emmy’s, two Grammy nominations, and an Avery Fisher Career Grant. A Universal/DG recording artist, he has made eight solo albums that have sold more than 200,000 copies. He has performed with the London, Los Angeles, Seoul and Euro-Asian philharmonic orchestras; the Moscow, Vienna, and Württemburg chamber orchestras; Kremerata Baltica; and Alte Musik Köln. As a recitalist he has performed at Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Kennedy Center, Wigmore Hall, Louvre, Salle Cortot, and Madrid’s National Concert Hall. This is sure to be an exciting evening of chamber music!
