This is Rodger Bennett’s second performance at Peninsula College but his first appearance on the Maier Hall Concert Series. Mr. Bennett has performed extensively as a classical guitarist in Mexico, throughout the United States, and in Korea, Canada, England, Ireland, Austria and Romania as a soloist and in ensembles. In the fall of 2008, Mr. Bennett was the featured soloist for the Mesquite Symphony (located near Dallas, Texas) where he performed the beautiful Concerto in D by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
In the fall of 2013, Mr. Bennett was once again asked to be the featured soloist with the Mesquite Symphony where he performed the celebrated Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo. Mr. Bennett has been an artist-in-residence for the Texas Commission for the Arts, the Texarkana Regional Arts Council, the Idaho Commission on the Arts and the Idaho Commission on the Humanities. Although Mr. Bennett will choose his program chiefly from the classical guitar repertoire, he is also conversant with jazz and popular styles. His recital should be an enjoyable experience for classical guitar buffs as well as for all music lovers. We are especially delighted to have Rodger Bennett on our stage as he is only the second guitarist to be featured on the Maier Hall Performance Series.
