Costa Rica – Student Opportunities
Costa Rica – Special Topics in Global Health
Spend two weeks this summer studying international health issues in the beautiful country of Costa Rica! Learn about community health practices and how to live and work in another country and culture. You’ll spend part of your time in the village of Boca Tapada near the Nicaraguan border in northern Costa Rica and stay in a beautiful ecolodge in the rain forest, a bird sanctuary for the endangered great green macaw. A side-trip to La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano will be included.
Some of your activities may include working with the local population in first-aid, learning about a government-based health practice, and studying environmental issues and their relationship to community health.
The trip to Costa Rica is preceded by an intensive, short seminar during the last week of July on the Peninsula College campus where you will receive an overview of Latin culture and history and learn basic survival Spanish.
