Italia (Italy) - “Bel Paese”
Italy has long been known as “Bel Passe,” or the ‘beautiful country.” For those who go as travelers, scholars or students, the biggest challenge might just be how to choose among the country’s endless attractions. According to UNESCO, the United Nations' cultural branch, two-thirds of the world's historical and artistic heritage sites are located in Italy. Tuscany alone is said to possesses more artistic treasures than the whole of Spain, the second country in the world cited by UNESCO for its cultural attractions.
The opportunity to teach and study in this ageless and beautiful country can be yours through the Washington Community College Consortium for Study Abroad to which Peninsula College belongs. This spring, we will be sending our first faculty exchange member to Italy when Kate Reavey travels to Florence to teach creative writing and literature through the Consortium.
