A tradition of excellence
Peninsula College Athletics is a tradition built on the same principles that guide our campus, where teaching and learning is the center of what we do. Our athletic mission is to strive to win championships, to academically prepare our student athletes for opportunities at the next level, and to teach and model the principles of good citizenship. Pirate athletes will participate in community service activities, leadership development, youth sports camps and clinics, and a variety of student life opportunities to better prepare them for success in sports - and in life. Our coaches are excellent, post-season play is not a goal at Peninsula, but rather an expectation - and our student athlete success stories often continue at the next level. Jump on board the Pirate ship and join us as a player or a Pirate booster. You'll be glad you did!

Von Vogt named new head men's basketball coach
PORT ANGELES – Lance Von Vogt, of Arizona Western College, was named men’s basketball head coach at Peninsula College today, taking over the position recently vacated by eight-year coach Peter Stewart, who accepted the head coaching job at Minot State.
“We have enjoyed a very successful tradition in men’s basketball and we’re looking forward to coach Von Vogt continuing that tradition,” Director of Athletics Rick Ross said. “Coach Von Vogt has the experience and the passion to step right in and do the job. He also seems like a great fit for the college and for this community.”
As the top assistant coach at Arizona Western, Von Vogt’s chief responsibility was recruiting. Before arriving at AWC in 2006, he was the Manager of Basketball Operations at Eastern Kentucky University where the Division I Colonels placed fourth in the highly-respected Ohio Valley Conference. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Oxford College of Emory University, where he led the Eagles to a pair of playoff appearances. His head coaching stint was only three years, but the two playoff appearances were the first in the program’s history. In his third year there, OC recorded a school-record 22 wins, regional and inter-regional championships and a spot in the NJCAA Top 10, earning Von Vogt the 2004-05 Region Coach of the Year honors. Peninsula College adds women's soccer, drops softball
PORT ANGELES – Peninsula College announced last week that it will field a women's soccer team in the fall of 2010. An informational meeting for student athletes is planned for 6 p.m., March 15 in Room M134. The college plans to have a head coach in place by the end of the week and has already received five verbal commitments from athletes for the 2010 fall season. In order to add the sport of women's soccer, Peninsula will suspend its women's softball program following the 2010 spring season.
2009-10 sports year
PORT ANGELES – The 2009-10 sports year has been another good one for athletes, coaches and fans representing Peninsula College. It started with the Pirate soccer team achieving its' highest ranking in school history, No. 2, and then going on to win the West Division, qualify for the playoffs for the fifth straight year and place fifth in the NWAACC. In basketball, while the women's team was in rebuilding mode, the men made a run at the North Division, opening with four straight wins. The Pirates fell off that pace with some struggles on the road, but still qualified for the playoffs for the sixth time in eight years under head coach Peter Stewart. The women's softball team appears to be stronger than the 2009 club and they hope to make some noise in the North Division playoff race as well.
