Student Government

The Associated Student Council is the principle student governing body. It is comprised of three executive officers, elected in the spring, and nine other officers, selected in the spring. The 2008-2009 ASC includes president Jamie Brown, vice president Chidi Antoinne, vice president of programming Stephanie McGarvie and eight representatives and programmers who include Ayla Brown, Athena Christianson, Damaris Craig, Sam Flett, Fani Hernandez, Elijah Sussman, Terrance Stewart and Krystal Tolliver.

Applications for the 2008-09 ASC were due by the end of May. However, the ASC typically has openings throughout the year, so interested students are welcome to print this application and submit it to the Office of Student Programs.

Meetings are held weekly, October through June, at noon on Thursdays in the ASC conference room. Students, staff and faculty are welcome.

The ASC's primary function is to develop the student budget and to oversee activities and programs, including concerts, dances, child care, clubs, field trips, etc.

ASB Cards
Associated Student Body cards provide identification for college students and free or reduced admission to varsity athletic events, dances and other activities, as well as video, and recreation checkout.

Video Checkout
The ASC provides a library of video movies for free checkout with an ASB card.

Clubs
The ASC provides funding and support for a variety of clubs and organizations and encourages students to form new clubs. Current clubs include Christian Collegiate Fellowship, GLBTS, IT Club, Phi Beta Lambda (business), Phi Theta Kappa (honor society) and Physics Club. For more information on clubs, contact the ASC.

Child Care
The ASC assists with funding for the college Early Childhood Educare Center. Phone 417-6532.

Students interested in serving on the ASC may pick up application packets in the Office of Student Programs. The general election for ASC president, vice president and secretary-treasurer will be held in April. The six representatives are appointed following an interview process annually in June.
