Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance is an estimate of the educational expenses for the "typical" student. As required by Federal law, Cost of Attendance includes more than the cost of tuition, fees, and books. Peninsula uses one cost of attendance for students who do not live with their parents, and one for dependent students who live with their parents. The figures listed below are for Washington residents enrolled at least half-time (6 or more credits) for three quarters of the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Cost of Attendance is used, along with the Estimated Family Contribution (2), to determine students' financial need. The formula is as follows:

Cost of Attendance - Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) = Financial Need

(1) Tuition costs are higher for students who are not residents of Washington State.

(2) The Estimated Family Contribution is a number prepared by the Federal Processor after financial aid application data is analyzed.

(3) Tuition/fees is estimated based on a 10% increase from 2011-2012 tuition rates for 15 credits, plus building, fitness, bus pass and TEUF fees.
