Summary of Duties
- Follows established guidelines,
- responds to inquiries regarding departmental services and procedures;
- answers and make telephone calls,
- schedules appointments
- Sorts, files, and tabulates various documents and records; establishes and prepares new electronic and paper files or categories within established filing systems; enters and retrieves data using electronic files and software; removes and logs materials; maintains status and file reports;
- Performs basic word processing or typing tasks such as aligning text, setting margins and tables, saving or filing, spell checking, and printing to produce memos and letters;
- Photocopies and collates material;
- Perform electronic mail tasks;
- Assists with maintaining and updating the online presence of the Upward Bound program;
- Cross checks and tabulates standard information; checks incoming forms and documents for required information; extracts and compiles statistical data from source documents;
- Maintains office inventory following established procedures;
- Drafts and updates routine forms, letters and flyers; assembles reports; proofreads material making corrections for sentence structure, spelling, grammar, and punctuation;
- Shares information regarding important dates, deadlines, and events with participants and their parent/guardians.
- Assists with tracking the participation of Upward Bound participants and processing of monthly stipends;
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications / Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year or more of clerical experience
- Organized
- High attention to detail
- Typing skills
- Knowledge of: basic knowledge of modern office practices, methods and procedures; English grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation; basic arithmetic; the use of electronic information equipment.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous TRIO experience preferred
- Prior experience working with low-income, first-generation, disadvantaged, and/or minority students.
Approximate Hours Per Week:
10 hours per week, approximately
Days and Hours Needed:
Normal business hours between 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday.

8. Technology: Student worker will develop proficiency in common technology tools, including phone, email, online searches, Zoom or other online meeting platforms, Microsoft Office applications, and specific technology used in the student worker's job duties.
9. Upward Management Skills: Student worker will demonstrate competency on how to communicate needs, concerns, and requests to immediate supervisor and other managers.
10. Workplace Simulation Mastery: Student worker will learn how to receive and learn from feedback, importance of regular input to and from the supervisor, and the supervisor will perform genuine performance evaluations and exit interviews.
